IPL or Intense Pulse Light Photorejuvenation is a non-ablative treatment for brown spots, redness, age spots, broken blood vessels, and rosacea. IPL uses several wavelengths of light in a targeted way to deliver light energy into the depths of the skin, targeting pigment and stimulating the underlying cells to produce the collagen and elastic tissue. The type and depth of the condition being treated determines the wavelength of light selected. It is safe, non-invasive and is tailored to the individual patient’s skin.
IPL and photodynamic light therapies can help reduce inflammation and acne scarring, but they are less effective on whiteheads and blackheads, or on cysts or nodules. This treatment can be used anywhere including hands, neck and chest.
Indications
WHAT TO EXPECT
Treatment
Treatments are preformed in the office and do not require anesthesia. During this procedure, you will experience a gentle snapping sensation as the light contacts the skin.
Result
There may be some redness and swelling afterward and a mild sunburn type sensation that usually resolves in 24-48 hours, depending on the intensity of the treatment. Repeated treatments may be needed every 3 to 4 weeks until the desired effect has been achieved. Depending on your specific skin condition and the kind of treatments you get, results can take time. Repeat sessions may be necessary, even with the most aggressive laser.
Downtime
There is little to no recovery time associated with IPL Facial. You can expect to return to daily activity, but it is recommended that you stay out of the sun.
