Many factors contribute to dull, lackluster skin including aging, sunlight, weather, pollution, lifestyle factors, genetics, stress and dehydration. And if that were not enough, we shed millions of skin cells each day. Some may shed naturally but for the ones that do not, they accumulate and can cause a grayish hue or sallow skin, no matter the skin tone. This results in making you look tired and older than you actually are, even when you’re well rested and live a healthy lifestyle. When skin care just isn’t enough, we can help you find ways to uncover brighter skin with clinical treatments.
Treatment
There are many approaches to treating dull skin, and oftentimes combination treatment provides the best results.
Chemical peels improve and smooth the texture of the skin. They are intended to remove the outermost layer of the skin and reveal a fresh new layer of skin underneath. There is minimal to no downtime but depending on the depth and strength of the peel, it can last a couple of days. This is a great option when you are short on time and need a quick recovery.
CO2 laser treatment is an ablative treatment meaning it selectively removes and resurfaces a portion of the skin. It typically requires a week of downtime and is an effective treatment for many issues beside dull skin including acne scarring, melasma, and moderate to severe sun damage.
Microneedling is a procedure that uses small needles to prick tiny holes in the skin. These microinjuries prompt skin to generate brand new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more even-toned skin. Microneedling is mostly used on the face and is used to treat various other skin issues including scars, wrinkles, and large pores.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are prepared by taking a sample of your own blood and running it through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. These activated platelets are then injected directly into your injured body tissue which then serve to promote healing and skin regeneration. This is commonly combined with microneedling to promote even greater enhanced results.
Each person has facial skin problems that are unique to them. Our first step is to evaluate the condition of your skin and determine which treatment, or treatment combination, will produce the most dramatic improvement in skin quality, tone, and glow.
