Chin Dimpling $200 |
Most people do not realize they have chin dimpling unless they look in the mirror while talking, eating or if someone points it out to them. It is characterized by divots and lines, commonly referred to as having an orange-peel appearance, that can be caused by an overactive chin muscle, called mentalis muscle. It can become more pronounced as we age due to volume and fat loss in the chin area.
Treatment
The best and most common approach to treatment is to use neurotoxins such as Botox/Dysport to relax the muscle. Usually this involves two simple injections. Once the muscle is relaxed, it prevents the chin muscle from dimpling the skin.
If the cause of chin dimpling is from volume loss, which can be the case as you get older, you may also notice the formation of lines that run down the corners of the mouth and down to the chin, called marionette lines. In these cases, treatment involves replacing lost volume with dermal fillers. This will address both issues, resulting in diminished lines and smoother skin.
Treatment
- Neurotoxins (Botox/Dysport) are administered to relax the muscle and prevent the chin muscles from dimpling the skin
- Dermal Fillers are used to replace lost collagen contributing to volume loss, thereby filling the chin and preventing lines from forming
- CO2 laser resurfacing addresses the skin by reducing the chin lines that have started to settle in.
